How Long Should Your Reusable Pads Last?

Hi lovely,

I’m Rupal, the founder of KIKI & GREEN. I’ve been using and developing reusable pads for years now, and one of the most common questions I get asked is: "How long do they actually last?"

The short answer? With the right care, our reusable pads can last up to 4 years—some of mine are still going strong even after that!

Reusable pads are an investment in your health, the planet, and your peace of mind. And just like anything you love and use regularly, the better you treat them, the longer they’ll last.

How Long Should Reusable Pads Last?

Our pads are designed with high-quality materials and tested by tens of thousands of women in our community. On average:

  • With regular use and proper care, our pads last around 3–4 years.

  • Some customers tell us theirs are still going strong after 5 years!

The key? Following a few simple steps to keep them fresh and in top condition.

My Top Tips to Make Them Last

Here’s how I personally look after my pads:

1. Rinse & Re-Rinse
After use, rinse your pad in cold water. If you’re storing them before laundry day, give them a quick second rinse every 24–36 hours to keep them fresh.

2. Avoid Fabric Softener
It can affect absorbency and cause build-up over time. If you’ve accidentally used some, don’t worry — if it was just a one-off, that’s totally fine.

But if you’ve used it more than once, soak your pads in a mix of 1 part white vinegar to 4 parts cold water for 30 minutes, then wash as normal. It helps break down any residue and resets absorbency.

3. Wash on a Longer Cycle
I like a 1.5-hour cycle at 30–40 degrees. You can also do a short rinse cycle before the main wash if you’re unsure whether all residue has been rinsed out properly.

4. Air Dry for Best Results
Dry your pads in sunlight or on an airer—avoiding tumble drying helps them last even longer.

When Is It Time to Replace Your Pads?

Pads don’t suddenly stop working—but here are signs it might be time to replace or top up your set:

  • The absorbency feels reduced

  • The pad doesn’t stay as fresh after washing

  • You’ve used the same set continuously for 3+ years

  • You just want a fresh new print or to add more of your favourite flow types!

A Quick Tip from Me:

Most women start with one set to try it out — and then come back for more.

Why? Because once you experience the comfort, confidence, and no-leak freedom of our pads, it’s hard to go back.

Our Heavy Flow – Midnight Rainforest is the most reordered pad across all customers.

Many women return for our Mixed Pad Set (Regular to Heavy) to build a set that works across their whole cycle

The Regular Flow – Tropical Palm is perfect for lighter days or backups

And if you love a lighter option, Midnight Rainforest – Light Flow is another popular top-up.
